Many important pieces of information will be shared at that time, please make every effort to attend.
All of the necessary school supplies will be provided for your child; however, it is important to bring the following:

- A pair of headphones that can be kept at school (please no ear buds)
- An old shirt for art (please write the students name clearly on the front of the shirt)
- A 2-gallon zip-lock bag for library books (this will help protect the books between school and home)
Although we provide all needed supplies; classroom donations are always welcome. The following is a supply wish list:

- Black dry erase markers
- Markers • Clorox wipes
- Handi Wipes / Diaper Wipes (for messy hands )

Dear Friends,
We hope that everyone is having a wonderful summer. It is time for us to think about our new school year. We have been busy getting everything organized and ready to have great experiences together! We cannot wait to share more with you at Back to School Night on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 6:00pm.
The first week of school begins Monday, August 29th. We are going to learn so much this year! We’ll explore plants, celebrations around the world, states of matter, and lots of other exciting topics!
We have many school supplies here. If you are doing back-to-school shopping, these are items that would be helpful to have:
- Backpack (large enough to accommodate library books and daily mail)
- Zipper pencil case (preferably, no pencil boxes)
- Lunch box
- Art shirt (old, short sleeved tee shirt that will easily fit over clothes)-please print first name, last initial on front of shirt
- 2 Containers of disinfectant wipes - no need to label
- Flat pocket folder—no binders necessary
- 2 Packs of glue sticks
- 1 old sock to be used as an eraser
- 2 two-gallon Ziploc bag with your child’s name on it for Library and classroom use
- 1 pack black, low-odor dry erase markers
- Hand sanitizer
- Tissues
To start off our school year, we would like your child to share one summer memory. It can be a picture, a souvenir, or a craft that your child made. Please bring any memory items on the first day of school.
We look forward to getting to know you and having a great start to our school year! SEE YOU SOON!
Love,
Brandywine Wallace’s First Grade Team

Dear Second Grader(s),
We are so excited about our upcoming year together and are busy getting our classrooms ready for a fun and exciting year of learning with you. In addition to building our reading, writing, and math skills, we will also be exploring many interesting science and social studies topics in Second
Grade, including Communities of Today and Long Ago, Rocks, and Wetlands. We look forward to
our first day of school on Monday, August 29th, and “Back to School Night” is tentatively scheduled
for Tuesday, August 23rd.
Here is a list of supplies we would like for you to have on the first day of school. Please make sure that the folders, pencil case, crayons, colored pencils, art shirt, and the 2-gallon Ziploc bag for Library are labeled with your name.

Dear Third Grader:
We hope that you’re having a fun summer! We’re really looking forward to having you in Third Grade and hope you’re ready for an exciting, fun, and busy year! As you begin to get ready for school, there are some things that you’ll need to have to start the school year. Be sure that each item you bring to school has your first name and last name on it! You are responsible for having all the items below in your desk at all times all year long!
First, you’ll need a 16 or 24 box of crayons. Crayons are great for the coloring you’ll need to do in third grade. You do not need markers! Markers are only to be used for outlining or lettering so if you need them in class they will be provided.
Second, we recommend a two-pocket folder. These folders are inexpensive, easy to carry and fit in your desk, and helpful in organizing papers. One pocket is for papers that go home and the other is for papers (like homework) that need to come back to school. Trapper Keepers are unnecessary so do not get one of these. They do not fit in our desks with all the textbooks that you’ll be receiving.
Third, you’ll need to have a soft pencil case with a zipper. You will be keeping this at school and carrying it to all your classes. Do not be tempted to get a pencil box. These break and spill more easily and take up more room in your desk, in which there won’t be much room to spare. (If you want a pencil box, use it at home in your homework center, which is explained in paragraph six below.) Inside your school soft pencil case you should be sure to have a blue, green, or red ballpoint pen; a yellow highlighter; and at least four sharpened #2 pencils with functional erasers at all times. Avoid gel pens and fluorescent colored pens as they are hard to see on the paper and dry out quickly. Your highlighter must be yellow as this is the only color that is permitted to be used in our State testing booklets in the spring. If you wish to use mechanical pencils, you must also supply your own lead. Be sure the lead that you buy is the proper size for your pencils.
Fourth, Ms. Stright requires that all students have a 2-gallon Ziploc bag for carrying Library books to and from school. This protects them and helps them have a longer life so all kiddos can enjoy them.
Next always have an S.S.R. book with you! You’ll have silent reading time each day, and reading is one of the acceptable activities for early finishers.
Finally, set up a homework center at your home. Choose a place to do your homework that you find comfortable with a noise level that works for you. You’ll need the following supplies there so that you can complete the 3rd Grade homework that you’ll be receiving: some #2 pencils, a pencil sharpener, a functional eraser, crayons or colored pencils, a ruler, and a dictionary.
We hope the rest of your summer is safe and relaxing. We look forward to seeing you at Back to School Night on Wednesday, August 24th at 6:00 PM and on our first day of school, Monday, August 29th! Be ready for a great year!
Sincerely,
The Third Grade Teachers

Dear Fourth Grader,
Welcome to 4th Grade! The first day of school is quickly approaching. Just so you don’t have butterflies in your stomach for the first day of school, we want to give you some information on how to be organized for your classes. For your first assignment, you will need to share this letter with your parents! In order to prepare for the beginning of the school year we have provided a list of what you will need.
- An Art T-shirt for the year with your name on the label. Please put this shirt into a gallon size zip locked plastic baggie and write your name on the bag.
- A daily healthy snack is optional. We have a snack each day at approximately 10:30 a.m. (Remember no NUTS or FISH products in your snack.)
- 4 notebooks; one red, blue, green, and yellow.
- 7 plastic folders. DO NOT LABEL your folders or notebooks! We will complete this task together. Please bring one of each of the following colored folders; red, yellow, orange, blue, green, purple and one of any style of their choosing.
- Each day you will need two #2 pencils, a pencil case, a highlighter, a blue or black pen, and two Expo markers.
- A pair of Earbuds or Headphones for student's device.
In addition, our classrooms are always in need of tissues, Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer and Expo markers. Feel free to send these items in throughout the year, along with Box Tops for Education.
You will be receiving an assignment book provided by the Brandywine Wallace Home and School Association. All students are responsible for copying assignments in the book as they are given, and for taking the book home to complete all assignments.
From time to time, fourth grade will require volunteer homeroom parents. Parents will have an opportunity to sign up at Back to School Night. We look forward to meeting everyone then, and we appreciate all of your help.
Students, please come prepared on our first day, August 29th, with a smile and ready to work hard and have fun. We are looking forward to working with all of you and having a wonderful year together!
Sincerely,
The Fourth Grade Teachers
